AJJE Games Network

The AJJE Game Network was created in 2005 with the goal of creating a collection of text-based RPG clubs representing specific genres. Each RPG club would be independently operated by fans who had a passion for that specific genre. Once a player was a member of any given club, their login would work across all clubs in the AJJE Games Network.

Although originally a Star Trek club, by 2009 AJJE Games had opened three “anchor clubs” - Star Trek, Stargate, and Firefly. Also present in addition to these was Ride the Edge: Member Created Sims, an area where AJJE players could develop a wide range of sims - including Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and Star Wars.

In 2011, AJJE Games was forced to close its Firefly sim by Fox Studios. In discussions spurred by this event, the Board of Founders and President Geisbrecht’s administration agreed to consolidate all remaining clubs into a single organization.

Unfortunately, gradual decline in membership led to a number of sims closing, and by late 2014 it had become apparent that the AJJE Games Network was coming to an end. Seeking to preserve the posts, characters, and sims of the Network, the Board of Founders approached Phoenix Roleplaying with a view to the latter providing a new home for the members, as well as taking stewardship of AJJE’s PARS technology and sims. Terms were agreed, including hosting this page detailing the Network’s history, and AJJE was formally closed in February 2015 after 10 years of simming.

Founding Members of the AJJE Game Network

Alex

In April of 2005, Alex wrote and developed the PARS system that would serve as the playing system for SFHQ - a text based Star Trek RPing club. Having been a senior member of another roleplaying club for many years, he used his previous experience to develop what he termed the Guiding Principles, a ten point governmental structure used in all clubs throughout the life of the AJJE Games Network. He used both PARS and the Guiding Principles to gather a base of strong RPers that helped open SFHQ. SFHQ would later serve as the template for subsequent clubs in the AJJE Games Network.

Alex served as AJJE Games President from 2005 to 2009, stepping down after he reached the maximum term limit. He served as Senior member of the Board of Founders and Director of the Server Management Division until his retirement from active participation in 2011, remaining a life long member of the Board of Founders. In 2014, he returned to take a leading role in negotiations with Phoenix Roleplaying regarding the merger and the transition thereafter.

Jessica

Jessica joined SFHQ when it first opened in 2005, bringing with her a decade of roleplaying experience. She had previously roleplayed with Alex in another club, and with some arm twisting agreed to help him open SFHQ. Jessica took on the role of SFHQ’s first Technical Support Director, and created a template that would latter be used in all future clubs. Having created the idea of AJJE Games, Jessica was placed as AJJE Game’s first Vice President of Operations. In that new role she proposed and developed what would become AJJE’s second club - Stargate Universe, later renamed Stargate Unlimited.

Jessica retired from active participation in 2009 but remained a life long member of the Board of Founders until the AJJE Games Network’s closure.

Jud

Jud joined SFHQ two months after its grand opening, bringing with him his years of GMing experience from another Star Trek roleplaying club. He eventually was moved into an Operational Leader position and developed the concept of the Expansion Fleet, and area in each club where players could create uncommon sims in their genre. The Expansion Fleet concept was used by each of the future clubs and exploded into what later would be Ride the Edge: Member Created Sims. Jud served as the first RPG Development Director when AJJE was created.

In 2009 Jud joined the Board of Founders and served in that position until the Network’s closure.

Edgar

Edgar was the second player to join SFHQ when it opened in 2005, bringing with him his previous club administration experience from another Star Trek roleplaying club. He served as the first SFHQ Member Support Director, and developed procedures that would later serve as a template for all AJJE clubs. Edgar went on to take role of the first Vice President of Administration, and later led the founding of AJJE’s third club, Leaf on the Wind. He served as the Operations Director in LOTW until 2007, developing the club into arguably the strongest in the entire AJJE Games Network.

Edgar originally retired from active participation in 2010, but returned in 2011, succeeding Alex as Senior Member of the Board of Founders. He continued to hold that position until 2014, when Alex returned to activity himself to lead negotiations with Phoenix Roleplaying.
